McGill Public Conservatory

The McGill Conservatory provides quality musical education to Montreal community members of all ages and abilities. The Conservatory offers courses, camps, concerts and workshops both downtown and at Macdonald campus.

McGill Farmers’ Market

A weekly fall market and a gathering spot for students, faculty, staff, and community members to discover healthy, local and sustainably produced foods.

Freaky Fridays

McGill scientists bust myths and talk about the realities and misconceptions surrounding pressing science issues. Often followed by a topical Hollywood film.

Macdonald Campus Farm Tours

The working campus farm hosts tours for children and the general public through the summer months, ending with an Open House event in early fall.

Public Astro Night

A lecture on the wonders of the universe followed by night-sky observations with portable telescopes and (when possible) use of the McPherson rooftop Observatory.

McGill Book Fair

Each autumn, browse tens of thousands of used books (French and English) in categories ranging from architecture to zoology. The Book Fair also offers vinyl, CDs, DVDs, and sheet music.

Exhibitions at the Redpath Museum

Installations on themes like marine vertebrates, biodiversity, and world culture, with a special emphasis on local history. Includes an outdoor “garden” of Canadian minerals and fossils.

Public Art at McGill

A 45-minute tour of art on the McGill campus, led by members of the Visual Arts Collection team.

Nature Walks, Talks and Tours

Explore nature in the city with a guided walking tour, discussion, or presentation hosted by the Redpath Museum of Natural History.

Science Documentary Films at Redpath

Weekly screenings of documentary films on topics ranging from life in the Arctic to the depths of the Grand Canyon, food security and indigenous cultures.

Sunday Discovery Workshops

A family-friendly science workshops covering a broad range of topics designed to inspire curiosity in young and old alike. Each workshop includes a hands-on craft.

Learn to Swim Program

Student teachers from McGill’s exceptional swimming program provide year-round courses for children aged 3-14 years. Participants follow the Olympic Way curriculum for development of skills required for the front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke and butterfly.
