BrainReach is an award-winning, non-profit community outreach program managed by graduate students in McGill’s Integrated Program in Neuroscience (IPN). In collaboration with the Faculty of Education, they bring their knowledge and enthusiasm to Montreal classrooms through interactive workshops for children from Elementary Grade 4 to Secondary 3. Workshops focus on how brains function, on the biological basis for mental disorders (to remove the stigma from mental illness), and on explaining the role of scientists in society.
Applauded by teachers, school board officials, pupils and presenters alike, the program generates curiosity about science, shows students what real scientists look like and teaches them that anyone can be one!
