Musical appreciation transcends boundaries of all kinds—from culture to class—yet musical training is often a privilege reserved solely for those who can afford it. The Montreal Heart of the City Piano Program (MHCPP) removes financial barriers by providing free lessons to at-risk children who might not otherwise have access to an instrument.
The program’s goal is to increase children’s self-esteem while fostering musical appreciation and skill. MHCPP’s weekly lessons also build a mentorship relationship between at-risk children and volunteer teachers, creating a trust that nurtures students’ growth and expression.
