Legal Information Clinic at McGill

The Legal Information Clinic at McGill (LICM) is a non-profit, student-run, bilingual and free legal information service. Anyone can make an appointment to access legal information, referral and other services. The Clinic maintains a continuing commitment to meeting the needs of marginalized groups, helping them access information and resources that might otherwise be out of reach.

Their volunteers do not provide legal advice; they only provide information.

The Clinic’s services include:

  • Legal information about topics including landlord problems, immigration, international law, municipal law/by-laws, business, employment and family;
  • Commissioner of Oaths service; and
  • Information sessions offered through the Just Info Program, providing English or French presentations in almost all areas of Quebec law, including landlord/tenant law, employment law and family law. (The goal of Just Info sessions is to make the law more accessible by informing participants of their rights and obligations in a simple and useful manner.)
